… At the back was a garden where a dozen green-painted tables with matching chairs propped up against them stood among some puny trees. On the right was a bowling alley, the front end of which was out of sight and probably reached into the road... on the left was a permanently anchored raft belonging to the house next door ... which was the landing stage for the little Spree steamers.
